Simchamp decoded

This is the code that won the second prize fort Mr Karthik,Kenneth and Raison the "SimChamp" @ IITM competition. The code is a simulation of a fire accident, in which several(87?) are caught and they have to be rescued, I suppose.
The code seems to take certain area(co-ord) as danger zone and outside that area as safe zone.
People in that zone are taken outside. But there is a time limit also.
Good effort! We at NMAMIT are proud of the students.
Keep the good work going!

PC---Instant on technology needed

At Intel’s developer conference last week, Phoenix announced that the latest version of its BIOS could boot in just about a second by cutting out redundant checks and creating a smarter version of the firmware .

That should be really nice.
Of course, that still leaves the time that it takes Windows to start up, but Microsoft has been working on that, too, and claims that Windows 7 starts up in about 20 seconds, compared to the 50 seconds or so for Vista.
Is it? Anybody using them comment please.

Google's Fast Flip service

Google attempted to mend fences with newspapers by launching Fast Flip, a free news hub that allows readers to scan through participating newspapers, but gives those papers a share of the revenue from ads placed around the site.

Imagine what if you have biometric laptop

The thief might have just cut your finger and run with the laptop.
The use of biometric identification is a problem for some. If one's finger print is not clear for some reason, one has to struggle to login. If one is to be denied entry to a biometric controlled door, his finger may be chopped, worst still with retina controlled system!!

Is it true!!

As it appears in the Annals of Improbable Research it could be believed. It reminded me a cartoon in which a person wears a pig faced(Sudha weekly) shaped mask to avoid H1N1 infection-swine flu!

How to Upgrade to Windows 7

You have an early decision to make: Do you want to upgrade your current Windows installation, or go for a clean, fresh install? The upgrade is certainly easier--your applications, your settings, and your data travel with you, and there's little you have to do after the install itself is complete.
After a clean or fresh or (Microsoft's word) custom install, you'll have to set up your users and network, reinstall your drivers and programs, and move your data back into place.
A custom install is cleaner than an upgrade. Windows accumulates garbage as you use it, and flushing it out every so often makes sense. So does starting a new version of the OS with a clean slate.
If you're currently using XP, the choice has been made for you. The custom install is your only option.
